
Lyons Wellness is a premier wellness service provider with expertise in several areas. Sessions can focus on one area or be a custom combination of the following, ensuring that you reach your goals with each session uniquely tailored to fit your needs.
:: Yoga ::
Yoga is an excellent system of exercises that can be invigorating, toning, and sweat-producing or restorative, calming, and stress relieving. By combining body movements with breath, Yoga can provide excellent core strengthening, toning, and a feeling of complete refreshment when done with a skilled teacher such as Christy. Yoga is excellent done in groups, with a spouse / partner/ friend, or individually. Yoga can be excellent cross-training for those into very active lifestyles such as running or cycling, as well as for rehabilitating range of motion from an injury from sport.
Christy is trained in Hatha Vinyasa (aka Power Yoga), Ashtanga (a traditional Power Yoga), restorative, and Yin (slow, ground-based) Yoga. She also has received training in Yoga for insomnia, depression, and various other medical conditions.
:: Pilates Mat ::
Pilates is a system of exercises designed to strengthen the core, spinal stabilizers, and shoulders through repetitive movements linked to the breath. Taught more like an exercise class than Yoga, it can be a useful tool for any person looking to increase toning, strengthen their spine and core / abdominal muscles, or rehabilitate an injury.
Christy is trained in Pilates Mat exercises, which means machines like the Reformer are not used. This makes Pilates more accessible and affordable than use of the complex machines. All one needs is a mat and Christy to have a fun, invigorating class! Pilates Mat is excellent for individual, private therapeutic (for those with injuries/ medical conditions), or group sessions.
:: Personal Training ::
A NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) CPT (Certified Personal Trainer), Christy is passionate about helping clients through exercise, education, and constant support to reach their fitness goals. One of Christy's beliefs a as trainer is in her ability to work you just hard enough to see and feel results, but without any injuries (or the inability to walk the next day!). Her clients also say her abilities of trust, flexibility in working with high-stress / high-powered career people, and her ability to educate her clients in many more areas than just fitness make her a desirable trainer.
Personal training is excellent for weight loss, for getting back into shape after a fitness hiatus or injury / surgery, and for education in fitness, nutrition, and overall wellness. It can be done individually or with a partner / spouse/ close friend, but is not appropriate for large groups as the individual component is lost. Christy has locations in the Loop and Lincoln Park for personal training, as well as she is willing to come to corporate, complex, or in-home gyms as her philosophy also includes that one not need fancy equipment to see great results!
:: Fitness Assessments ::
Using simple tools, Christy is trained to provide fitness assessments that give you baseline measurements in order to create quantitative goals for your wellness path. Fitness assessments can include any combination of the following: heart rate / cardiorespiratory testing, BMI (Body Mass Index), body measurements, body fat percentage, and can include custom measurements such as balance or agility tests if desired. Fitness assessments are done easily and with little equipment, making them a great corporate event.
:: Injury Prevention/ Fitness Rehabilitation ::
After working as a Physical Therapy Technician for 2 years, Christy is well-versed in fitness rehabilitation and injury prevention from her fortunate and abundant training from the physical therapists she worked under in rehabilitating orthopedic injuries. Areas of experience include: various spine conditions (degenerative disc disease, herniated / bulging discs, fusions, sciatica, spondylothesis, and generalized back pain), knee injuries (including various ligament / meniscus repairs, IT Band syndrome, and chondromalacia patella), hip bursitis / labral tears / total hip replacement, ankle sprains, shoulder injuries including impingements and rotator cuff repair, and many more.
Appropriate in a private setting only, where one's unique needs can be met in privacy, Christy can come to one's home or has locations in the Loop and Lincoln Park for sessions.

Christy's services can be used as an alternative to medical treatment (i.e. for relieving pain), in conjunction with physical therapy, or post-therapy / post-operative.
